Belgium and England Transport on the water - Universal Transport
At the beginning of September, two plant components for steelworks started their journey to their locations in Belgium and England, without any time pressure, but instead being reliable, safe and environmentally friendly. The transport was planned, organized and handled by the Czech Universal Transport team in Praha.
From the factory in Slovakia, the parts were transported to the port in Bratislava by truck. There, the 25 and 36 tonne plant components, were loaded onto an inland waterway vessel and shipped towards the North Sea on the Rhine-Main-Danube axis. The delivery to the recipient in Belgium was done directly by barge to the factory premises with access to the water.
More changes of mode of transport were necessary for the freight to England. The Züst & Bachmeier team took over the loading from inland vessels to seagoing vessels in the port of Rotterdam. Finally, in England, after being on route around a month time, the plant component was loaded onto a truck using a mobile crane and delivered to the recipient.
Burkhard Jung, Managing Director of Universal Transport Praha: “Ships are not the fastest means of transport, but they are simply predestined for large and heavy loads. In addition, the chosen route enabled us to move two shipments over a large part of the journey with just one vessel. Grouped goods in XXL, so to speak.”
